I really wanted this app to be the end all be all of all my artistic apps. It is the most feature laden of all the top 5 but the speed of drawing is the only thing that really bugs me. If you are looking for the app that has the most similar tools to gimp or Photoshop then this is it. If you want to smudge or mix paint or have a true to life paint simulation then I say pass. Check out inspire pro this app has the smoothest smudging of any art program I have used. It not art studios fault. They do pack tons of tools. But there is something to say about being jack of all, master of none. The app will probably have better luck on ipad2. Thats too bad since that will probably stop all memory improving updates for us ipad1 guys. If you want a perfect photo editor and a perfect line art/coloring/manga/comic app don't look any further you have found it. If you want hyper real paint mixing/smudge tools look to inspire. Other than that if you can deal with lag then you might just be a pig in mud. Later
ArtStudio is the best painting app ....Another Fantastic update******

ArtStudio is the best painting app on itunes. Now with this new update painting on the iPad will open up a new world to artists. I'm a professional artist that has been painting with oils for years and the time has come to leave the studio. Now with ArtStudio and my iPad I can paint anywhere and anytime. The options are endless with 5 layers , wonderful brush selections, blender, layer transformations, smart bucket fill and I could go on and on. I have all the other programs and I will tell you this is the best by far…. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to paint with this app. I want to Thank Steve Jobs for creating the iPad …… THE NEW CANVAS FOR ARTIST and the developer Sylwester Los for creating this amazing painting app.
You will really enjoy painting with this app. The iPad and ArtStudio together will change the art world..

Lots of Features But Terrible UI: I choose Inspire Pro
Lots of features here, easily the most I've seen in any other drawing app, but the way you access features in an app is through the interface and the UI of this app is the worst I've seen in any other drawing app. It looks horrendous, really poor choice of colors and style. Also it covers up too much of the screen at one time. I know there are a lot of features to choose from, but I'd prefer a better interface with less features if I had to choose. The app is generally slow too, which makes using it even less enjoyable. Not my thing, I think an artistic app should be visually pleasing and a delight to use. If you hate this app and want to try something pretty much the exact opposite, check out Inspire Pro.
